about

inspired by tonight's thunderstorms, I did this as an overdubbing experiment with my little ZOOM H1n recorder for the first time, with accompanying rumblings and alert buzzes. 100% first (mis)takes.

This is a very old traditional song made popular in 1927 by Uncle Dave Macon. More than you might ever want to know about it you can read here: mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=97649

Also, many thanks to Casey Joe Abair & Hunter Robertson (hunterrobertson.bandcamp.com/track/sail-away-ladies) for putting the phrase, "Don't sheetrock that patio!" into my head; and to Bbob Drake (fluxmonkey.bandcamp.com) for first teaching me this song.

(I've temporarily put some artwork by George Herriman as the "cover" here, but will be replacing it soon with some of my own.)
